As many of you might know, I quit my agency job last week to take a position at Flying Dog Brewery. Not just a beer bottler or anything, I’ll be the new Creative Manager of said brewery. Today should have been my last day, because Bloglines has ceased to work on my G4 (single processor) running OS 9.2.2.
This isn’t the first website that has ceased to work in OS 9. First it was Orbitz that stopped working. Then theonion.com. Flickr also doesn’t work to its’ full potential (no notes, and the browse buttons in a photostream don’t either. nor does the geotagging).
Now Bloglines? The odd thing is that my boss is interviewing people to replace me, and I wonder if he’ll tell them that they’re going to be crippled by the lack of recent technology. I’d doubt that people who graduated today would have the slightest clue about using Quark 4, Photoshop 6, or even OS 9. Good luck to those guys.
The new company gave me a shiny new MacBook Pro to use. I haven’t even started there yet and they already have let me use the laptop so that I can get it set up for when I start. It’s nice to work for someone that values technology and isn’t afraid to spend a little cash on new computer gear.
