An open letter to the Spicy Pickle Corporation

Spicy Pickle White Filone

Dear Spicy Pickle,

I just went to your store at 10th and broadway and was informed that you no longer carry white filone bread.

Whereas your ciabatta bread is nice for some sandwiches, I don’t think it goes very well with my roast beef and swiss sandwich.

I think this stinks and I’ll definitely consider other sandwich shops when I’m looking for a roast beef sandwich.

Considering I always get a roast beef sandwich from the Spicy Pickle, I don’t want to completely abandon your store. But unfortunately, I must move on to other sandwich shops that have better bread.

Please bring back the white filone.

Update: About 30 minutes after I sent this comment to the Spicy Pickle through their feedback form, I received an email from Tony Walker, the COO of Spicy Pickle asking to get in touch with me. I wrote back with my phone number and about 15 minutes later he called. We’re going to their new corporate headquarters Spicy Pickle store next week to discuss my issues.

I may not like the Spicy Pickle’s new direction in terms of their bread, but I do respect the way they do business. From a marketing standpoint, they’re doing the right thing by personally and promptly responding to complaints and concerns.

(And no, the photo above isn’t me, but that’s the old white filone bread. Goodbye, white filone. You’ll be missed.)

My exhusband was trying to work with the Spicy Pickle people to open a franchise, and apparently they decided he wasn’t Spicy Pickle material. Their loss.

Also, I used a white filone for making the Best Muffaletta Evar this summer. It is a fine fine bread.
