Best (and Worst) Government Webpage Ever.

The purchasing and eating guide for Chilean Sea Bass FAQ.
The informative content is hilariously formatted. The beginning of the text is ridiculously big, then when you size it down to look more normal (Command-), there’s some copy below that is teeny tiny! Looks like some apprentice to some undersecretary in the State Department got a little mixed up. Or maybe they’ve got bad eyes.

Always darkest before it’s light?

In what I consider to be the worst 2 weeks of my recent life, a small beacon of hope has appeared. We finally got government approval on new labels. So those should go to press in the next few weeks with new labels on shelves maybe in 4-6 weeks. Good times. It’s a long project that has taken a serious amount of time to complete, much longer than I ever expected. Will be nice to cross that off my list, too!

The real question is this: does this big project getting finished mean an upswing for me and my life? Or is it just a false ridge with lots more uphill to go?

The planets must be aligning or something.

According to my planet alignment TPS from cafeastrology.com, I’m in for an exciting evening:

23 Trine Neptune – Pluto
Positive aspect: Although you will lack reason and logic, on the contrary your psychic faculties (such as inspiration and clairvoyance) are likely to be highly tuned.

Ooh, claivoyance.

I would recommend that you make your hotel reservations for the Downton Denver area now between October 10-14. Why, you ask? The Great American Beer Festival (GABF) runs that weekend. GABF, as we all know, is a weekend of debauchery and drunkery. Firefox tells me that drunkery is not a word, but alas it’s too late. Thousands of drunk people politely standing in line but erupting into a cacophonous roar when someone drops their plastic mini-beer stein. Amazing. Plus I get free admission, since I’m a Flying Dog peasant.

On top of that, Denver is hosting the AIGA Design Conference 2007 the very same weekend. Both gatherings overlap in the same building, nonetheless. 2,500 designers in the same place.

We’re planning on having a totally amazing party at the brewery all weekend. Live music, art exhibiting, free beer. What else do you need?

Sometimes you need to choose a better domain name

Smirnoff Ice’s domain is www.SmirnoffIce.com, but it can just as easily be read as www.SmirnOffice.com. Sort of makes me want to reigster www.Smirn-Office.com or a similar derivative. I also think their advertising campaign is a little on the weak side.

The other beer company that has some bad advertising is Warsteiner. Their catchphrase is “Life’s Too Short To Drink Cheap Beer” really should be about life being to short to drink bad beer. Sort of reminds me of what we’re doing at Flying Dog by featuring the Hunter S. Thompson quote “Good people drink good beer” on a large percentage of our materials.

I’d rather have good beer that happens to cost more then High Life than have beer that’s expensive but you don’t know what it tastes like!

That aside, I still like Warsteiner Dunkel. There was a rumor that when the Kaltenberg Castle (a.k.a. Castle Wolfenstein) in Vail closed down their operations, they sold their Dunkel recipe to Warsteiner. I don’t believe that’s true. The Kaltenberg used to have a $20 all-you-can-eat-and-drink-from-6-to-9 special on Mondays and it was a pretty good time. Not bad for the old Gondola bilding at Vail that’s now something else, it got knocked down as part of a 1 billion dollar makeover of Vail to keep it competitive in the Ritziest Shit Championships.
