Total Solar Eclipse Overlays for Google Earth
Okay, here’s a cool thing. These awesome Google Earth layers chart when future total solar eclipses will be, and I completely guarantee that I’ll go see one of these occurrences. Because it looks fucking amazing.

The one I’m going to try to check out is on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Easter Island. First, Easter Island is nowhere near where i thought it was (5 and a half hours of plane flight from Chile). Second, there are those big fucking stone sculptues, or Moai. And I’ll be 31. Wow. Old man river. I’m definitely going on some sort of South American tour in 2010. Who’s with me? I’m seriously fucking going. And I’m also going to go skiing in Argentina while I’m there. Ski season is in full swing around then.
If you’re the traditional American slacker-type, just wait until August 21 of 2017, a total solar eclipse will be moving through the U.S. from coast to coast. Talk about a perfect time to go camping near Lincoln Beach, Oregon. I think I’m planning on going there for it, looks like the first place you’ll be able to see it in the U.S.
If I’m still wearing shorts in the winter, I’d like to try to hit the one on Saturday, December 4, 2021 in Patriot Hills, Antarctica. Penguins and eclipses – amazing!
