Flickr auto-filtering photos – Change your defaults!

Go here to take the bogus parental controls off your Flickr account. I just found out that Flickr automatically turns some sort of “Safe Search” on for all users, requiring you to opt-in to things like screenshots, art, illustration, CGI and other non-photographic images, and yes, some nudity.

I personally like to decide for myself what I see, and feel that there should be one of those AJAX messages on your homepage that says your photo searching/viewing capabilities are being limited. Because I apparently wasn’t getting the full scope of Flickr’s search capabilities and that is L-A-M-E.

Eric Volz story on Anderson Cooper tonight

I wrote earlier about Eric Volz’s lame trial in Nicaragua, and they’re working on an appeal (which is a good thing, hopefully he’ll get a fair appeal since the trial seemed so unfair). The American newsmedia are picking up on Eric’s plight, and there’s a story about him on Anderson Cooper tonight (CNN).

I urge everyone to watch and also urge you to write your congresspeople about this potential international incident. Nicaragua is such a beautiful and unspoiled paradise, it would be bad to hear about injustice in a fledgling democracy that could deter tourists.

Anderson Cooper’s 360° blog (another Anderson Cooper link! Holy shit!) has this to say about the show tonight:

Thank God for the “1 minute waiting period” to get a gun. I also never thought I’d be linking to a blog with Anderson Cooper’s name on it.

And if you people think that this is just another way the supposed liberal media latches onto a story and runs with it, you’re sorely mistaken. Deadly incidents with a gun are just another reason we need stiffer gun control policies. So put that in your holster and smoke it.

If these fucking deranged idiots can get their hands on a gun so quickly and easily, there’s something wrong.
